Beverly Jenkinsí newest novel, Something Like Love, tells the long awaited story of Neil July and his unruly band of outlaws. When Neil and his brother decided to rob another train of outlaws, little did they know that life would never be the same. For upon that train was seamstress Olivia Sterling, a woman with a plan, who would let nothing stand in the way of her dream- to have her own shop. When she is robbed by Neil she canít forget the handsome robber who stole her money and her heart. A year later Olivia is living in Kansas working in her own shop and when she is rescued off a runaway stagecoach by Neil and his brother, her interest is rekindled. Neil also is shocked to see Olivia and soon the two of them have fallen head over heels for each other. Unfortunately, Neil is a wanted man and Olivia has trouble picturing herself riding off into the sunset with him. Together, Olivia and Neil must discover how much they are willing to give up for love.
This is one of the best novels I have read in a very long time. The characters are wonderful! Olivia is a strong woman who can take care of herself which makes her very interesting for the reader. Neil is a good man who does bad things- donít we all love a bad boy? His character is an interesting mix of bad and good that makes him irresistible to both the reader and Olivia. The plot is fast paced and yet reveals the difficulties that both Olivia and Neil are faced with on a daily basis. I also enjoyed the secondary characters that played a large roll in this novel; they added spice to this story. Most of all Ms. Jenkins has created a wonderful love story that carries the reader away to another time and place. If you love historical romances than this novel should be on your keeper shelf; so run to your nearest book store and pick it up!
