These three uplifting novellas feature the same African-American church in small town, Texas . . . and the changes the music ministry goes through over time.

Make A Joyful Noise – by Jacquelin Thomas – Bradley Rhodes believes that Peaceful Rest Church is his ticket back to the top. But when he arrives to take over the church choir, he discovers that the top singer stands out for all the wrong reasons. Sparks fly and tempers flare as Bradley and Desiree Coleman attempt to work together. Will her music start to stir Bradley’s soul?

Then Sings My Soul – by Francis Ray – When Peaceful Rest’s prim choir director and Summerset Junior College’s hip band director attempt to work together for a big college celebration, it seems that Grace Thompson and Caleb Jackson will never reach an agreement. Will they find music that both of them can agree on—and maybe a chance at love?

Heart Songs – by Felicia Mason – When the Reverend TC Holloway, Peaceful Rest’s former pastor and now a renowned television evangelist, comes to Texas for a reunion, the last thing he expects is to meet his former heart-throb, Carys Shaw. Is it too late for them to create an everlasting love song?

HOW SWEET THE SOUND is easily read and enjoyed. My only problems with the book is that I think they were arranged in the wrong order; in my opinion, Make a Joyful Noise should have been last instead of first, as it happens after the other two stories. Also in Make a Joyful Noise, the way ministers of music are chosen differs from how the story is portrayed.

Other than that, the characters are realistic and expertly developed and the reader will come to care about each of the heroines and heroes in the stories. I don’t really have a favorite story in the book, all of them were equally good. Pick up HOW SWEET THE SOUND today and start your heart singing.
