Sookie Stackhouse is a cocktail waitress that has the unusual ability to read minds, a fact that is more often then not ignored by her fellow humans, for fear of acknowledging her strange ability. Now she has to hope that her brother, Jason, will be able to cope with the new circumstance that he has found himself in, which is his new life as a shape shifter.
Also a killer is on the loose and targeting shifters and for some reason Sookie is being targeted as well. Her romantic life is a bit chaotic what with her having recently broken up with her vampire boyfriend, had a brief affair with another vampire, who for the moment doesn’t even remember their relationship, and not to mention her feelings for two other shifters. So not only must she try to help put a stop to the killings but she has to unravel her very complicated romantic life as well.
Dead as a Doornail is a humorous and captivating tale that will hold readers attention until the very end. All the delicious men in Sookie’s life make it hard to back one of them completely because they are all great. The aloneness that Sookie experiences because of her ability is saddening but seems to have forged a tough heroine. Charlaine Harris has created another fantastic novel in the Sookie Stackhouse series and I am greatly looking forward to reading more of this wonderful series.
