Jessica Ramsey faked her own death in order to escape her abusive husband. When she’d learned she was pregnant she knew she had to run because there was no way she’d allow her child to be raised by such a cruel man.
Now, five years later, she’s feeling safe and not having to constantly look over her shoulder. But, that all changes when she sees the man of her nightmares sitting across from her in a restaurant. She runs, but the man follows, and in her attempts to get away she steps in front of a car and is injured.
It isn’t until later, in the hospital, that she realizes the man isn’t her husband Cole, but his twin brother Alex. She’d never met him in person, only spoken over the phone, and no one had ever mentioned the brothers were twins. Alex has a hard time believing that his brother is the monster that she claims, and unfortunately doesn’t realize the truth of the matter until it’s too late. He’d already called his brother to let him know his wife was alive and has a son.
Now Jessica and her son Joe are on the run again, and Alex has joined them, determined to protect them. Cole is ruthless in his pursuit, and you fly through the pages as brother is pitted against brother. How can two brothers turn out so differently? And can Jessica truly trust Alex, when every time she looks in his face, she sees someone she fears so much?
This debut book by Michelle Perry is an excellent foray into romantic suspense and I’m definitely looking forward to her next release.
