Detective Vanessa Torres is sent into the Bronx to locate a suspected embezzler, Alec Messina. Already dealing with past issues about the Bronx, she’s thrown for a loop when she sees Alec for the first time. Toss in a carjacking at gun point, a mob boss uncle looking for Alec, crooked partners also looking for Alec, and Vanessa’s attraction toward Alec and you’ve got a lot of people wanting a piece of him. Can Vanessa keep him safe long enough to locate the proof that Alec is innocent?

His Wicked Ways is a story about a detective going against everything she’s worked for because of one man. Vanessa doesn’t strike me as much of a hard ass as she portrays herself to be. She spends most of her time freaking out about one thing or another. Though her past is frightening, Vanessa refuses to let it go and takes too much responsibility regarding actions that she has no control over. Alec is the more dominant of the two, but with a sweet, romantic side he had me sighing over him. The story is fast paced and exciting and the sex . . . well bring a fan! If you enjoy quick moving, suspenseful stories with the heroine being the tortured soul, then you will definitely like this book by Ms. Rock.
