Kate Conner is your typical suburban mom, carting her kids, fourteen-year-old Allie to school activities and two-year-old Timmy to play dates. To add to her list of things to do she has recently been recruited by her husband Stuart, who is running for political office, to plan the menu and be the prefect candidateís wife at the occasional political fund raising dinner. Little does this San Diablo CA housewife realize her life is about to change beyond her wildest dreams.

You see Kate has a secret past. She and her first husband Eric used to be demon hunters before they retired from that hectic life and settled in the peaceful small town of San Diablo, CA. Kate never dreamed her family would ever find out about her past but that was all before demons descended on peaceful San Diablo and in fact attacked Kate as she takes out the family trash.

Surprisingly her demon hunting skills and instinct come back to her rather quickly and Kate is prepared to fight whatever evil has unleashed itís self on her small California town. She also must find a way to protect those she loves from the demons and from discovering her past.

Let me say this clearly Carpe Demon is in no way a romance book. If your reading pleasure comes from the romance elements in a story then pass on this book.

Now if you are still with me then prepare yourself for an action packed thrill ride as you come along with Kate on her quest to rid her town of the demons that have descended upon it. Julie Kenner has penned a story unlike any she has ever told before. Carpe Demon is the start of what looks like an awesome series if the first installment is any indication.

With interesting characters and a fast paced story line Ms. Kenner draws her readers in for the ride of their lives. Several secondary characters help Kate on her quest to hunt down the demons and they prove interesting enough for the reader to want to know more about them in future installments of this series. Ms. Kenner leaves several unanswered questions at the end of her tale but then thatís what any good series author is expected to do. I look forward to the next demon-hunting installment of this fresh and fun series.
