Three years ago Rosie Gardener lost her best friend and business partner Vickie Winters when she refused to believe that the man she was getting ready to marry was nothing but a loser. Rosie can still remember the ugly words that were spoken between them as Vickie stormed out of her life.

Now poor Rose, even more overweight than the day she got married, is facing some harsh truths. Kent Bliss is even more than the two timing slime that her Vickie told her about all those years ago. He’s also lazy and cruel and poor Rosie has wasted the last several years of her life supporting him as he runs around town spending her money on himself and whatever woman he can talk into bed. When her third year anniversary rolls around and she’s left staring at the fancy meal alone as the candles melt around her, she decides she’s ready to change her life.

After tossing Kent’s clothes down the front step, she makes arrangements to change the locks and sell the car and boat that she bought for him. She then sets out to hire herself a personal trainer. What she doesn’t know is that she’s also carrying around a winning lottery ticket in her pocket that is worth millions!

As the rest of the story unfolds, Rosie will take a deep look at her own life and discovers the beautiful woman that she’s hiding inside. This story brought me back to Fern’s earlier writing days when I used to gobble up her books faster than a box of chocolates. Not only does she do a wonderful job of creating a woman that we all want to cheer for, but she mixes in a good dose of laughter, a touch of romance and a dash of mystery. Those of you who love Fern’s recent books will also get what you crave as she mixes in an adorable dog and a ghost who is determined to help Rosie out.
