When Samantha’s father dies, she finds out he put a stipulation in his will to try and insure her future. Now in order to keep her home, she must either marry or tolerate a man her attorney chooses to run the land until she reaches age. Frustrated, she is furious with the outcome of events. Especially when her neighbor, whom deems himself in love with her does everything in his power to force her into marriage.

Holden is a white man that has lived in the Indian world. In his heart he is Indian, and he lives by their laws more than man’s. When his sister was brutally raped and impregnated he has vowed to revenge her. In his search for vengeance he finds himself working on Samantha’s land and falling in love with her. But can she handle who he is at heart?

This was a great book that unraveled bit by bit for the reader. Action packed, it moves at a quick pace and is hard to put down. The reader falls themselves into the characters and the setting. There are a lot of secrets to be exposed as each chapter unravels as well.

Fans of Indian romance or historicals in general should not be disappointed with Walks In Shadow. As the history of Samantha’s younger brother is revealed more and more, one finds themselves hoping everything works out for each character involved in the drama. There were a few twists along the way to keep one guessing.
