Karyn Monk shows how wonderful a storyteller she is in this story of deceit, intrigue and love.

Once a powerful laird, now a convicted murderer, Haydon Kent, Marquess of Redmond, has no hope of eluding the hangman's noose, until a mysterious beauty appears in the dark shadows of his cell. Escaping in the dead of night, he sought only to reclaim his life and prove his innocence. Instead he finds himself imprisoned once again by an exquisite woman with red-gold hair who soothes his fevered body and tormented soul and stirs in him a passion unlike any he has ever known.

An outcast from society, Genevieve MacPhail has devoted her life to rescuing wayward urchins from the brutalities of a corrupt prison system. Harboring an infamous escaped murderer will only imperil the beloved children who have become the center of her world. But she doesn't believe the disarmingly handsome nobleman is a cold-blooded killer even if he does hide a painful secret. Determined to solve the mystery of who is trying to kill him, Genevieve will assume the role of Haydon's wife, only to find herself succumbing to a dangerous desire that could destroy them both. But will her good deed turn to death for them both or will the passion they have found in each otherís arms be enough to get them through this one last trial of faith?

What a strong, powerful story! Haydon, a once-great laird, really has to bite on his pride to allow this beauty of a woman to rescue him. But when Genevieve shows him that sheís not as frail as she seems, he canít help but admire her spirit and tenacity in the face of all that they must go through to prove his innocence. A more destined couple you have yet to meet. These two characters are meant for each other and although both can be stubborn and prideful, they set the pages on fire with their passion.

Ms. Monk is the master of detail from the wild beauty that is Scotland to the dank, dark cell in which we first find Haydon. Every detail and feeling are spelled right out for the reader, always making us feel as if we are a part of the story. With fantastic secondary characters and tons of passion, this story is sure to be a keeper!
