Although Perdita Dylan is an organic vegetable gardener, she is not a very good cook. She enjoys her independence, her cottage, and her veggies. What she does not enjoy is her macho, egotistical, ex-husband. He has suddenly popped into Perdita’s life and her business.
Perdita’s other great love is Mrs. Anson. Mrs. Anson is Kitty to Perdita. Kitty is eighty-seven and more spry than some of Perdita’s friends are. They live next door to each other; Kitty has allowed Perdita to use some of her land for her vegetable growing. Having known each other for over twenty years, they are best friends.
When Perdita starts to deliver her home grown veggies to the restaurant where Lucas, her ex-hsuband, is the head chef, she begins to come in contact with him every day. As far as she is concerned, nothing has changed as far as she can see. Lucas is still an egotistical man, full of himself. With Lucas back around, can Perdita hang on to her independence and her privacy? Or are there forces at work to throw her and Lucas back together? Will Mrs. Anson change Perdita's feelings toward Lucas? Will Perdita ever learn how to cook edible food?
This is an amazing book. There are laugh out loud pages, and there are heart tugging pages. The characters stay with the reader even after the reader has finished the book.
This book belongs in everyone's To Be Read pile.
