Tired of dating losers, hairdresser JC Jensen decides what she needs in her life is a dog, a companion to come home to that will be nothing but devoted and loving. She visits the pound and bypasses all the cute puppies, deciding instead on a huge, ugly beast of a dog scheduled to be put to sleep. Although extremely temperamental and mean looking, the dog takes an immediate liking to JC.

After taking him home and giving him a bath, she decides to name him Fluffy since he sports quite a bit of fur. From the animalís point of view we see him take great offense at this silly name. What JC doesnít know is that this is no ordinary dog; heís actually a wolf, a werewolf to be exact.

Despite JCís recent ban against men, she finds herself very attracted to new next-door neighbor Max. He invites her over for dinner and the sparks fly, along with a few articles of clothing. Max knows he has found his mate, but is not so sure how JC will handle the fact that sheís dating her dog. Just wait until she meets his zany family and the rest of his pack, including one member who has been neutered and another whoís a vegetarian.

While this story has a paranormal theme, itís mainly a spicy romance and should appeal to most anyone. Combined with the sizzling sex is the authorís unique sense of humor that has you turning the last page with a smile. Good news, thereís already a sequel in the making, Wolf Mates: Whatís New Pussycat?, the story of Maxís brother Derrick. For fans of this author, this is a must read. New readers, such as myself, will definitely be checking out her other books.
