Julia London never disappoints. In her next book in the Highlander series Ms. London brings us Griffin Lockhart, the brother of Liam who is now going to try his hand at recovering the ‘beastie’ from the English Lockhart’s and bring the thing home, thereby restoring his family’s wealth.

Of the two brothers, Griff is the more, shall we say, dandier one. He can cut a pretty sophisticated dash around London, at least he thinks he can. In the disguise of the Laird of Ardencaple, Lord Griffin MacAulay, Griff, along with his best friend, Ian MacAlister who is pretending to be his valet, set forth for London and resume the search for the ‘beastie’ that will save them all.

The ‘beastie’ by the way, is an ugly, gargoyle type statue that has been the feud of the Scottish Lockharts and the English Lockharts and is said to bring whomever holds it, wealth. The last person known to have been in possession of the blasted thing was named Amelia. Now Griff must find the correct Amelia and get the ‘beastie’ back.

Miss Anna Addington met Captain Liam Lockhart not long ago. In fact, they shared a kiss…only one kiss, but a kiss none-the-less. Now, having met Lord Griffin MacAulay, she is almost positive that he has the look of Liam about him. Could he be a cousin or some such? Well, there’s only way to find out, and being the inquisitive woman that she is, and her perchance to ask A LOT of questions, she will get to the bottom of this mystery, if it’s the last thing she does.

What neither Anna nor Griff expect, is to find an attraction to each other. He finds Anna to be an annoying female who doesn’t know enough to mind her own business and if she snoops any more into his affairs, she will blow his cover. Then he’ll never find the right Amelia and get the ‘beastie’. Anna thinks he is hiding something and that he is not really who he says he is and if he isn’t related to Liam in some way, she’ll eat her bonnet!

These two soon-to-be star-crossed lovers are a hoot! Anna drives Griff nuts with her persistence and questions. Griff gets on Anna’s last nerve by his evasiveness and stubbornness. They are truly cut from the same cloth, maybe from opposite ends of that cloth, but they are meant for each other nonetheless.

Ms. London always delivers and this second story in the series will not disappoint. The characters are fun and quirky. The plot is never boring and will keep you glued to the pages. You’ll laugh out loud, you’ll cry and you will fall in love with Griff and Anna as they find out that under the kilt lies a wonderful man who is truly a ‘dream’ in disguise!

Another bestseller, Highlander in Disguise is worth a place on your keeper shelf!
