Michaela “Mike” Marconi may be the best plumber in California, but she is totally inept when it comes to relationships. She would rather keep things short and uncomplicated than leave herself open to the mistakes she made when she was younger. Besides, just keeping track of her sisters and their family construction business is enough stress!
For years, Mike has dreamed about building her dream house on a certain parcel of land. Now, it has been snapped up right under her nose by scientist Lucas Gallagher. To make it even more irritating, Marconi Construction is building his dream house. The sparks fly whenever Lucas and Mike disagree on design elements!
Mike is tough on the outside and gooey-soft inside. She talks the talk and walks the walk, but does it all so much better when Lucas is around. Equally stubborn and opinionated, their spats are almost as much fun as the making up. This is turning out to be A Crazy Kind of Love!
For the second installment in her Marconi Family trilogy, author Maureen Child has brought back all the citizens of Chandler, California that her readers know and love. Papa Hank has fallen for eccentric Grace Van Horn and they are having a senior fling. Mike and her sisters are scrambling to keep all their projects straight, and Lucas has a surprise visit from his twin brother. Nothing unusual here!
The writing is crisp, the pace is fast and the plot is warm and heart-wrenching. Mike and Lucas must face their past and see how it has shaped the people that they have become - both good and bad. Only then will they be able to carve out a future together.
I really enjoyed this book, even more than the first book, Some Kind of Wonderful, and look forward to Jo’s story to finish the series.
