When you pick up Guardian of Honor by Robin D. Owens, you will find yourself carried away on a rousing adventure where one woman finds love, purpose and a home to call her own.

In the land of Lladrana, the magical fence posts that have kept the evil at bay are failing. The Marshalls who have ruled this land with magic and power for centuries know that desperate measures are called for. Through the passing of time, the lore of how to make the fence posts has disappeared. Only through the help and power of an Exotique can they be rebuilt.

Gathering their powers, the Marshalls perform a Summoning and bring to their world an Exotique. Alexa Fitzwalter is pulled from Colorado where she lives as a lawyer. Tumbling into a strange and endangered world, Alexa has no idea what sheís in for. All she knows is she wonít be taken advantage of and sheíll find her way.

She must learn a language and how to fight. She must learn to control the magic she has. The entire fate of a land and its people rests on her shoulders. Somehow she must find the way to make the fence posts or the evil will overwhelm the land. Along the way, she must make the Marshalls realize the only way theyíll be able to save their land is by breaking with the old ways and creating alliances and cooperating with the other people who share their world.

With the help of Chevalier Bastien and a mystical friend, Alexa finds herself being challenged at every turn. Is there any way she can help the Marshalls and save their world? Or will their distrust and unwillingness to bend be the death of them all?

Ms. Owens has created a wonderful and interesting world. Her characters have depth and are complex enough to capture and hold the readerís imagination. Alexa is a strong female who has the ability to take care of herself, but is willing to take help from others. The story is fast-paced and well written. Lladrana is a land that captivates and makes the reader long to be able to visit. The only complaint this reader had with the story is the almost instantaneous way Alexa accepts the fact that she has gone to another world. Iím not sure trained as a lawyer, Alexa would be willing to accept without more proof the existence of this other magical world.

Guardian of Honor is a wonderful adventure fantasy about a woman searching for a home and finding it in a magical world. Iím eagerly waiting for the next book in the series.
