We have read Sophia and Clara’s stories, now we get to read about Adele and her adventure. It seems that Adele is known as the sensible one and already has a titled fiancé before making her way to London.

Adele is definitely in for an adventure as she is kidnapped from her room aboard the ship before she even arrives in England. Then, her fiancé decides to send his cousin and friend to rescue Adele. This is a mistake in more ways than one; Damien can’t believe that Adele is going to marry his cousin, Harold.

Adele thinks more of Damien than she does of Harold even after her ordeal is over and she returns to her family and Harold. Adele is having misgivings about her upcoming wedding but she gave her word and she would not go back on it. Adele and Damien are both loyal to their family and would not do anything to jeopardize them. This means even giving up the one they love. Even though Adele wants Damien and feels alive when she is with him, she still tries to deny her feelings, just like Damien tries to rein his in as well.

The title says it all, My Own Private Hero, because Damien is the hero for Adele in more ways than just her rescue. He is everything that brings out the true Adele and she does the same for him.

If you have not read Sophia’s (To Marry The Duke) and Clara’s (An Affair Most Wicked) stories that is okay as My Own Private Hero can stand alone. But you should read them. Ms. MacLean paints the stories like we are right there beside the characters living and feeling what they are. The hero and heroine are made for each other; they balance each other out bringing out the best of them they had kept hidden.

I’m looking forward to visiting with them all again in Love According To Lily. I can’t wait to see what Ms. MacLean has in store for Lily.
