Tempting Danger is an expansion and revision of Wilks' novella, Only Human, previously published in the Lover’s Beware anthology. The characters remain the same, but the story is completely different.

Lily Yu is a San Diego police detective who is investigating a murder in which all the clues seem to point towards werewolf Rule Turner. Lily is a Sensitive who can tell certain things by touch, and she doesn’t believe Rule is the killer. Unfortunately no one trusts her because it is believed that she and Rule are romantically involved. Before Lily can figure out who in the department is helping to frame Rule, she is suspended from the force. Rule suspects that he’s being used to stop the passing of the upcoming Species Citizenship Bill; someone wants to make the werewolves look like monsters.

On top of everything else, Rule informs Lily she is his Chosen – his life mate. She struggles with this revelation, even as her body screams “Yeah, baby!”.

Though this story takes place in modern times, the world is very different from ours. Not only are there werewolves, but other mystical creatures and demons as well. Detailed descriptions paint a vivid picture, yet there are still many things to learn about the humans and the werewolf clan. I can’t wait to revisit Lily, Rule and some of the other characters in Mortal Danger, the next book in the Moon Child series.

Tempting Danger is a captivating combination of romance, suspense and the paranormal that leaves you anxious for more. If you like your werewolves sexy, your heroines spunky and your suspense… well, suspenseful, then this book is a must read. It’s definitely going on my keeper shelf. For those of you who must read a series in order, you will want to check out a related short story in the Cravings anthology before reading this one.
