Linda Lea Castle’s Promise The Moon is an amusing tale of one woman’s bravery and love for her friends. On a mission for revenge both Brandt le Revenant and Rowanne Vaudry cross paths and destinies in a story of murder, vengeance, deceit, and true love.
The language used in this story is somewhat different and a bit reiterative at times. If I counted the times that just looking at Rowanne made Brandt’s “throbbing tarse rear to life inside his braies” it might take me all day! However, in spite of this strange and repetitive language I found myself glued to the spot not wanting to stop reading or put the book down.
Once Brandt laid eyes on Rowanne, he couldn’t get enough of her and risks life and limb to protect and take care of her. Brandt’s own life received a total makeover in the process. From mercenary to a noble knight wishing to only serve his lady, Brandt evolves in an inspiring way that is enough to have all women everywhere sighing and dreaming. The tragedy of it all, he has blood flowing through his veins that Rowanne despises and has vowed to destroy. Fate, on the other hand, has a completely different plan for these two. What does Rowanne do when she discovers she has fallen in love with a man of the very bloodline she seeks revenge upon? Well, all I will say is that it’s well worth your time to read the book and find out!
The characters are all well developed and intertwined in a circle that pulls itself together at just the right time. The plot is intriguing as well as a bit mysterious (it took me a little while to figure out what was going to happen in this one.) Linda Lea Castle even used real locations for the events of our tale. Overall, this is a book that I would recommend for anyone who wants mystery, surprises, and let us not forget the sex and romance in their reading. When and where do we get the next one?!
