On his way to his ward’s house, Lucien Kendall catches a pickpocket of a rather unusual and fetching nature. The girl has a rather nice rear, but when she turns around and he has a chance to take a closer look at her he is completely taken. The girl, however, is not exactly thrilled at having been caught and decks him.
As Fancy tries to help her best friend Rosalyn, she is caught by a handsome stranger. Sadly, Fancy is not able to find what she is looking for and after decking the man, she has to hastily run back home. To make matters worse, her “ward” arrives that night and she accidentally shoots him … what else can go wrong?
Naughty or Nice is the first Melanie George book that I have read. This regency set romance has a little bit of everything: light humor, a brooding hero, an independent and strong heroine, quirky secondary characters, and plenty of sexual tension. Even though the story starts on a somewhat lighter note, and the tone remains as such almost throughout half of the book, eventually, as the (nicely) developed plot unravels, the tone changes, turning the story into more of an emotional ride, as Fancy tries to take Lucien away from the darkness that threatens to destroy him. I can’t say much more as I don’t want to spoil the ride for other readers. Although Naughty or Nice is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone without problems. I definitely intend to catch up with the first book of the Pleasure Seekerseries. This is the first book by Ms. George that I have read and I must say I look forward to read her future titles.
