In this variation on the story of Cinderella, we meet San Francisco Police detective Logan Riley and FBI agent Sean Weston. Sean has been in love with Logan since he moved in across the hall from her two years ago. But Sean is not your typical woman, she is just one of the guys. She keeps beer and take-out in the refrigerator.
Logan has a reputation as a ladies man; but none of his relationships have lasted longer than five weeks.
When Seanís stepsisters wedding comes up, she decides that for once in her life, she is going to be beautiful like her two stepsistersí, Tracie and Terri, and her step-mother, Tina. The Three Tís. She enlists Loganís help in transforming her from tomboy to girly-girl.
What starts, as a favor between two friends becomes more, when they begin to spend more time together. Sean has never felt as if she fit in with her father and her stepsisters and stepmother. She has always kept a distance between them; to protect herself from what she felt sure would be rejection.
Although Logan dates frequently, he has not had an intimate relationship in five years. Yes, that is right, the brother hasnít had sex in five years. He is saving himself for his one true love (he just hasnít realized it yet).
While Sean has always known how she felt about Logan, he is totally clueless about his feelings for her. Their friendship develops into more as they spend more and more time together. It is sometimes funny and other times painful to watch them try to work out their feelings for each.
I liked this book. The characters are well written and the dialogue was realistic and in the end, Cinderella still gets her Prince Charming. When I Fall in Love is actually the sequel to Love Undercover, centering on Loganís brother, Cary. I think thatís a book Iíll have to look for.
