The Fire Still Burns is the second in the McGrath brotherís stories by Roxanne St. Claire. We first met all three brothers in Like A Hurricane. They showed up when another one is in need of them, not matter what. This story features Colin, the rebel with the long hair and earring.
Colin is a rebel in a way as he dresses the same no matter what; whether it is giving a presentation for a bid or just out on the town, in jeans. Of course, being the only architect that dresses the way he does, he stands out from all the others. Of course that is how he likes it, as he is an original. Only this original still has feelings for Grace, the one who stole his heart all those years ago.
Grace just so happens to be bidding on the same job as Colin. She isnít sure she can face him after what happened oh-so-long-ago; she canít remember exactly what happened. All she knows is that she woke up in his bed, wearing his t-shirt. She has tried to put it behind her but she canít, she has buried it but it still rises up on occasion to haunt her, rearing its head when she hears, ďHello GracieĒ. She was hoping to make her escape before he got there, but luck wasnít on her side.
Just remember they are bidding on the same project, this is Graceís first time making the bid and of course Colin is an old pro at it. But the bidding has a strange twist to it, Colinís firm and the one Grace works at, are given three weeks to come up with a winning proposal. The catch, they must live together for the three weeks.
Colin and Grace still have a few issues to work through before they can be together. It all stems from that night so long ago. Can Grace finally believe him after all? As the title states the fire for each other still burns and the longer they are together the hotter it gets.
Roxanne St. Claire has given us a delightful story that gives us hope that maybe the second time around will be the one. It is fun to see Colin court Grace in his own way and help her see things his way for the winning proposal. The Fire Still Burns is a fun romp and teaches us a little along the way as well, not only about love but history pertaining to architectural structures. We canít forget about the other McGrath brothers; yes, they visited in this story as well. Iím waiting anxiously for the last McGrath brother to get his story.
