Matalia McTaber, headstrong daughter of Princess Kalial and Ronin McTaber, refuses to give in to the will of her parents and marry a man she does not love. She longs to find a love like the one her parents share. If she cannot have that she would prefer to live her life without the encumbrance of a husband. To accomplish her goal she must break a long-standing betrothal to her best friend. Matalia is also driven by her curiosity to experience the pleasures of the marriage bed, but first, she must find a willing partner she can control. The impetuous young miss concocts a dangerous scheme to secure what she seeks when wilely Fate places an opportunity in her path.

The handsome stranger Matalia rescues from brigands is the perfect candidate with whom to conduct a little sexual experimentation.

Brogan O’Bannon has wandered the globe amassing riches and treasures all in order to claim his birthright. Caught in the middle of a bitter conflict, Brogan and his twin brother must compete to see who will be their father’s heir. Waylaid by an enchanting raven-haired beauty, Brogan finds himself the unwitting pawn in this willful young lady’s plans. When the opportunity rises, Brogan frees himself and introduces Matalia to the most carnal of carnal pleasures. This precipitates a hasty marriage and the beginning of a passionate, perilous journey that takes the newly weds to the home Brogan must fight for. A place where betrayal and danger may cost them their lives and their fledgling love.

In a Wild Wood, the second book in the Wild series by newcomer Sasha Lord, is a sure sign of a star-studded future for this fledgling author. The powerful, passionate prose does not rely solely on its sensuality to keep readers interested. The growth of the characters makes this book a fabulously worthwhile read.
