Readers return to the fantasy world dealing with the magical, muscial kingdom of Quelgheny, and the return of fairies Allegro and Largo as they are assigned a mission they morosely feel is doomed from the beginning.
A Historical Fantasy, the setting is Regency England, 1811. Allegro and Largo have to figure out how to make a nearly impossible love match between heroine Lauren Miller, and hero Grant Hale, Duke of Chillhart: (quote) “The love match between the Keeper of the Flower --- the ruby that is reputed to have great powers --- and the Chosen Harmonic. Only if the Keeper experiences a love that will last for eternities can the correct song be released from the Flower.” (unquote)
But there are obstacles Allegro and Largo think are almost impossible to get past. Lauren’s father had been blamed for Grant’s father’s suicide, and he was responsible for the theft of the Flower and the ruin and downfall of the Chillhart family. How were Allegro and Largo ever to bring about a love match between these two? With magic, of course.
Filled with delightful action, a little bit of fairy magic, and a love that is destined to last forever, this story is a wonderfully enchanting read. Ms. Harchar brings to vivid life the Regency period, and her characterization of Lauren and Grant make the love story a ‘not-soon-forgotten’ one.
