When Cassie Tremont goes into labor on the side of the road in Pritchett County, Arkansas, her own prince charming will turn out to be the town sheriff Noah Wheeler. Of course once the twins are delivered and mother and babies are recovering at the hospital, it doesn’t take long for the whole town, including Noah’s own 17-woman support group, to let Cassie know that he’s no prince charming or at least not one willing to make a commitment.
Noah knows he’s broken his share of hearts over the years however he may be putting his own heart on the line when he starts to feel very protective over Cassie and her beautiful red headed girls. Cassie herself is not so sure that she’s ready to be swept off her feet either since her babies' dead father was a two timing scoundrel.
It seems the whole town may be plotting against them though when one event after another keeps Cassie tied to this town. When the girls can’t be released from the hospital due to a mild case of jaundice, the only room available in town happens to be the guest bedroom of Noah. Then on the day the girls are released her fancy yellow sports car has a little accident and she and the girls will need to stay on a bit longer. In the meantime, it is becoming more and more obvious that Noah may be ready to give up his bachelor ways for good.
Altom does a fantastic job with the descriptions of her home state of Arkansas in this charming love story set in a small town with some of the most memorable characters you’re likely to meet this summer. I’m sure you’ll also love watching two strong characters let down the gates surrounding their own hearts in order to fall in love with each other.
