Things have not been going well for programmer Lacey Garrett. First she finds her fiancé, Robert in bed with one of her girlfriends, he steals her company and her savings and if that wasn’t bad enough, he left her his cat, Oliver. So when she finds herself in a strange place, with a sexy space cowboy, she figures, this has to be a dream, after all, it couldn’t get any worse, could it?

Zain Masters was just doing his job, surveying and cataloguing uninhabited planets for

StarNet. He liked his job, no one but him and Renee, his computer and friend. After the death of his partner and lover Christa, Zain has a bounty on his head. With assassins, bounty hunters and InterGlax after him, he just wanted to live his life in peace. But wasn’t it his luck to get shot down over a barren planet by a mysterious weapons system. His only hope to figure out the mystery was a response from CyberQueen. The only person to answer his message. All he wanted was for her to help him figure out what the mysterious symbols meant and then he would send her home. Who knew he would find a woman who challenged everything he believed he wanted?

While stranded, Zain and Lacey uncover a plan to gain control of every young, undiscovered planet in the Outer Rim of the galaxy. When Lacey realizes that Earth is one of the worlds to be conquered, she is determined to do whatever she can to stop it. With the help of the indigenous crab people, a computer named Renee and Bobzilla, Zain and Lacey race against the clock to save the galaxy.

Both Lacey and Zain have been hurt in the past and are afraid to open up and trust another person. Lacey, afraid that Zain will take advantage and then leave, she does her best to keep her distance, but boy that man has a tush to die for and a walk that reminds her of a cowboy. Zain is afraid to get close to Lacey because of the price on his head. Not wanting her to end up dead like his previous lover and partner, he tries to keep his distance, until he realizes that he no longer wants to be alone.
