December brings the final book in the phenomenal 2176 series. It is with very mixed emotions that I write this review because I really hate to see this extra ordinary series coming to an end.

In the year 2006 Bree “Banzai” Maguire and Cam “Scarlet” Tucker were shot down during a routine mission over North Korea. The two women were captured and put into a state of suspended animation.

Fast forward to the year 2176. Banzai Maguire is found and the quest for finding freedom again in the world begins. Throughout this series we have heard the Shadow Voice beckoning to Banzai that she is the key to freedom in the new world. We learned part of Banzai’s story in The Legend Of Banzai Maguire. In the books that follow, Day Of Fire, The Shadow Runners, and The Power Of Two we meet people who are instrumental in helping the fight for freedom in the new world. Finally in The Scarlet Empress we learn the fate of Banzai’s best friend Cam Tucker. Banzai has always believed that somehow Cam survived as well and she was right. The Scarlet Empress tells Cam’s story and her fight to save Banzai with the help of a very unlikely hero, Han Emperor, Prince Kyber, who was somewhat of a villain in the first book.

Ms. Grant takes her readers on an exciting ride in the future and provides all the action and adventure I have come to expect in this series. With compelling characters and an exciting pace the reader is kept on the edge of her seat through the climactic ending of this outstanding series. The Scarlet Empress is the crown jewel of what I believe to be the best series of the year.

I believe all the authors involved in this exceptional series should be commended for bringing the romance reader something truly different and unique. It is very rare that I read a series and feel that all the writers truly had the same vision of the work. I most defiantly had that feeling when I turned the last page of The Scarlet Empress. Susan, Kathleen, Liz and Patti the 2176 series should become a classic. Congratulations on your outstanding work.

If you have followed this series all year then I would highly encourage you to pick up a copy of The Scarlet Empress to discover the exciting ending to the 2176 books. If you are just now hearing about this series then I would highly recommend that you gather them all and be prepared for an exciting and enjoyable reading experience. Be sure to make room on your keeper shelves, as you will need it.
