When photojournalist Alex Graham stumbles onto a conspiracy that could kill thousands of innocent people, she is a marked woman. Believing that the authorities will take care of her, she soon finds that her trust is misplaced. Her only option, it seems, is to run.

When ex-CIA operative Judd Morgan is contacted to find and protect Alex, he balks at the request. He has already paid his dues and wants only to be left alone. It is the “incentives” that are offered which ultimately changes his mind.

In Dead Aim, author Iris Johansen weaves a story of danger, intrigue and unexpected romance. From their very first meeting, Judd and Alex snarl and spit their way into each other’s hearts. The action never stops, with danger lurking in every corner, and villains coming from all sides. Alex has no choice but to place her trust in the shadowy stranger who coolly discusses killing like he is shopping for groceries.

Ms. Johansen never disappoints. Her characters are strong, yet have their vulnerabilities. She understands the fine line between inner fortitude and sheer bravado. Her plots are filled with twists and turns, rarely ending as the reader might suspect.

Dead Aim also gives us a glimpse of other familiar characters from previous stories. Multimillionaire John Logan, his wife Sarah and her search-and-rescue dog Monty play significant roles, as does Sean Galen. It is always nice to “see” old friends.

If you are interested in a page-turning suspenseful story with great characters, then Dead Aim may be just what you are looking for.
