Hang on to your bonnets, ladies! Jo Ann Ferguson has seen fit to pen another marvellous tale of Regency mystery and mayhem featuring Lady Priscilla Flanders and Sir Neville Hathaway. The intrepid amateur sleuths are soon to be wed and are planning a betrothal ball to be held upon the ancestral estate of the Hathaways on the Cornish coast. However, the grand old castle is hardly fit to live in let alone to host guests - some of whom are the crème de la crème of society. Locals whisper that it is haunted and talk of a centuries-old curse on the Hathaways.
Nevertheless, the scenic fields and cliffs around Sir Neville`s home provide the lovers with many touching stolen moments. Amidst the beautiful rugged landscape of the coast and the wide open fields scholars discover ancient Roman ruins-and some more recent remains. The incident understandably has Pris wondering whether it would be better to celebrate their happy day in another location. Not to mention an accident leads her to believe someone all too real wants Neville out of the way. In spite of timid Aunt Cordelia`s entreaties that they leave the house – and Neville- and never return, Pris vows to stay by Neville`s side no matter what.
Digging up Trouble is a great mystery and sweet romance all rolled up in one easy entertaining book. I love continuing series that show the progression of the heroine and hero`s relationship. Priscilla and Neville remind me of Stephanie Powers and Robert Wagner in that old show Hart to Hart. Their interaction flows and is composed in such away that it seems real not stilted. I invite you Regency fans to step into Pris and Neville`s world of mystery and adventure.
