What's a nice girl like Emily Cooper doing lurking around the sleazier part of town? And how on earth did she end up at "Ladies Night" in a disreputable bar, watching the sexiest man she'd ever seen stripping down to his skivvies and encouraging her to stuff cash into his briefs?

Oh there's a reason for it, all right, just as there's a reason Detective Judd Sanders is so far undercover on an assignment that he's almost completely uncovered! In front of a bar full of screaming women, no less. So why is there only one woman who draws his hot gaze?

Yes, Foster fans, Lori does it again. Here are two delightful characters, each with their own agendas, histories, baggage and confusion, coming together to learn about loving on the emotional and physical level. There's an instant mutual attraction (not always wanted, either) between hero and heroine in most of Lori Foster's tales, and this lets her readers be part of the building romance. Here we get to eavesdrop on not only Emily's feelings, but also Judd's. This may well be one of Ms. Foster's greatest strengths - her ability to allow us to share in both partners' physical and emotional upheavals as they begin to fall in love. Many writers give us an intimate look at women as they enter into and enjoy an affair - here we can glimpse the hero's involvement as well, and it's fascinating.

In point of fact, Emily and Judd are on similar missions, albeit for different reasons and from different angles, but how they resolve their goals puts them into the same playing field. Of course there's some hot lovin' involved, but readers of Foster novels know that the bedroom scenes between the hero and heroine are always filled with love and caring as well as steamy sensuality. These people like each other and the physical expression of that love is unfailingly wonderful to read about; no power struggles or domination urges here, just two people enjoying each other to the fullest! Emily and Judd typify this sort of relationship - neither is too sure of what's happening between them but both are becoming hopelessly addicted to it! Emily has to overcome demons that have plagued her for a long time, and Judd has his own hurdles to face, but the lesson here is that love helps turn any situation from negative to positive, and that a striptease at the right time can uncover a heart's desire! I heartily recommend this book, along with any and all of Ms. Foster's other works. They'll bring a smile to your face and a spike to your blood pressure - if only we could order her heroes as easily as we can order her books!
