Stella Cameron is one of the best in the romance genre. She brings us yet another tale of love and passion.
John Elliott, the Marquis of Granvilleís deadly efficiency makes him an invaluable asset to the Crown. But when his latest mission had nothing to do with the security of England, and everything to do with avenging the murder of two members of his family, John takes it very personally. And when he discovers who is behind the killings, killing is too good for the murderer. John has a better plan, seduce the manís young wife, Hattie, and then let society know of their affair. For Bernard Leggit, a wealthy and corrupt merchant, this will be a fate worse than death.
What John did not count on though, was Hattie Leggit's cooperation in the scheme. You see, Hattie has been trying to free herself from her private hell with Leggit, but things are taking too long; that is until the Marquis of Granville inspires the perfect opportunity to do so. When Hattie responds to Johnís advances, he can almost taste his revenge, but things do not go quite as he had planned. Hattie drives him wild with need, until he finds himself forgetting his purpose.
This is a wonderful story of revenge, love and longing. John and Hattie are a perfect match for each other. They are both very driven people who are set on a mission of their own making, only to find true love in the process. There are twists and turns and the secondary characters play a very important role to the story. Ms. Cameron has a way with setting the scenes so that the reader feels as if she is in the same room as the characters.
A delightful read and a definite keeper.
