DEA Agent, Joe Bellacera is dreading going to the suburb of Minton, Ohio to hide out from thugs who want to kill him. What can be worse than living next door to the world’s best soccer mom, her two adorable kids, and their crazy dog Hoover? However, once he gets a good hard look at that pretty soccer mom and realizes it is none other than the girl that he rolled in the grass with thirteen years ago, Minton, Ohio doesn’t look so bad after all.
Charlotte Trasker works hard to be a good single mother to her kids. She serves vegetarian only meals – at least when the kids are looking, chases Hoover down with all natural ice cream to lure him back home every time he escapes and works hard managing her own business to support her family since her husband died unexpectedly. Of course these are only the things the outside world sees. In the privacy of her own home, she devours squirt cheese with all its nasty preservatives, writes erotic poetry and indulges herself with a battery operated boyfriend that she keeps locked in her nightstand drawer.
Has thirteen years dulled the red-hot passion that blazed between these two all those years ago or have their memories only fanned the flame? If you like your romances hot with a good touch of comedy thrown in then Public Displays of Affection is for you.
I found this to be an enjoyable read, however, I didn’t feel that it had the same kick as Donovan’s previous books. It won’t stop me from watching the shelves for her future releases. Donovan fans will be excited to know that Susan is also working on her next book Skinny Dipping, which should be released sometime in 2005.
