Sarah Pendergrass has been called to attend her father, Lord Whitehurst. The same father who virtually threw her away because, she was an inconvenience to him and his work. Work that took him to Egypt, to discover hidden treasure and artifacts from another time. He has never called for her before, which makes her very suspicious about why he wants to see her. He tells her that he has found an ancient corselet that once belonged to a Pharoh’s wife. An artifact that he is convinced is cursed and that because of it, he is dying. Sarah’s father begs her to take the corselet back to Egypt, along with the queen’s mummy, and re-bury her to end the curse. Sarah, having never traveled out of England was very hesitant about this; but her father looked so frail and frightened that she felt she must do this, if only to prove to him that she wasn’t a worthless female. She was his daughter and she would make him proud of her. The only catch is trying to get the mummy and corselet back to Egypt without her father’s partner, Jake Mitchell, finding out. Jake wants to keep the mummy and artifacts in a museium in England.

Jake Mitchell is determined to take the queen's mummy and other artifacts to the museum. When he goes to Lord Whitehurst’s estate, he finds that the mummy and all artifacts are gone. He knew that Lord Whitehurst believed that these things were cursed, but would he actually take them back to Egypt, after all that they went through to get them to England? Jake books passage on the next ship bound for Egypt, with the hopes of stopping Lord Whitehurst before he ruins everything they have worked so hard for. Little does he know that his partner has a daughter, and that that daughter is on his ship, with the mummy and artifacts.

Their arrival in Egypt marks the true beginning of the story. Ms. Hilz writes a wonderful story of passion, pride and history that keep the reader glued to the pages. I couldn’t put this book down. The momentum never stops as one thing after another happens to hamper Jake from finding his missing mummy. Sarah is on a mission of her own, to prove to her father that she is worthy of his love, if he has any to give. When these two strong willed people finally come together, the sparks fly and the passion sets the pages on fire. This is a fantastic story that has enough facets for everyone.

This is a definite keeper!!
