With the help of her good friends of the Luminary Society, Josie Turner has learned to read, write and cipher. Despite her horrid marriage to the town drunk, abusive Oliver Turner, this Christmas will be the best one Josie has ever had. Josie has decided that with the money she has earned working at her friend Lucy Mulroney’s mercantile and selling her sewing on the side, she will be able to leave her miserable marriage once and for all. Fate has a different plan for Josie, and before she knows what is happening she finds herself accused of Oliver’s murder by Oliver’s estranged father, brutish Jed Turner! Locked up by Sheriff Mitch Hughes, her life is now in his hands, and Josie knows of no other place safer then with this lawman who shows her that there is kindness and love within the right man’s arms.

For the longest time, Sheriff Mitch Hughes has been yearning for sweet Josie from afar. Being a married woman, he knows Josie is out of his reach. This doesn’t stop him though from finding excuses to shop at the mercantile while Josie is there just so she can wait on him. Mitch has to find out what really happened to Oliver. The law is what Mitch has been sworn to uphold, and he will do his duty, even if it means putting Josie in jail, and prosecuting her. Josie is his prisoner, but it is Mitch’s heart that Josie holds captive. With a little faith, love and a true Christmas miracle, this Lawman will get the woman he loves the justice she deserves.

A Lawman For Christmas by Pat Pritchard is a sweet touching story of love, and miracles even for the ones who have no hope. Downtrodden Josie decides to put her trust in Mitch, a man that she sees will do good and right by her. Putting the nightmares of the Civil War finally to rest won’t be easy for Mitch, but for the love of Josie, he can face anything. I am a true lover of a good Christmas romance, and what better then to combine it with my other favorite romance ingredient, a western. Throw in a vile villain and you have the makings of a great read for Christmas! You will want to find this book in your stocking!
