Ex-cop, Nick Fuller is on a mission. He plans to keep his fiancé’s killer, Kevin, in jail as well as prove that Kevin’s then fiancée, Arabella Quinn, was in on his dirty dealings. To do this Nick must get closer to her. He “bumps” into her at a local bar and does his best to infiltrate into her life. Ironically, he finds the way paved when he mentions that he now runs a home security business and can use that as a ploy to get in. Nick also decides that seducing Bella wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Bella has done her best to stay away from cops since her ex-fiancé was found to be on the take with drug dealers, taking drugs, and sleeping with another cop. He has spent the last seven years in prison, however, Kevin is due to be released soon and now he is calling Bella. This scares her so when Nick offers to have security set up in her house, Bella jumps at the chance, though she’d rather jump Nick.
The Seduction of Arabella Quinn, is Caryn Carter’s first novel. Bella is a strong independent woman who is wary of all men especially cops. Nick is handsome, stubborn and quite certain that he has taken the right approach to achieve his purpose. However, he is intelligent enough to realize quickly that Bella is not who he thought her to be. While Nick fights his feelings for Bella, she is determined to force him to come to grips with them. The only things I was bothered by in this book were the extensive background information and side notes about the secondary characters that kept distracting me from the main story line. Though I was surprised by a twist at the end, I had also started to figure out that it was coming. For her first novel, Ms. Carter has done a good job. Suspenseful and romantic, as well as emotional, this is a good book to read.
