Claire is a young widow with a toddler son. Christmas is a sad time for her because she lost her husband to cancer three years ago at Christmas time. She feels she wants to forget the festive season but Dr Alex has other ideas.

This is a good festive story for reading in front of a warm fire. The seasonal theme is well played throughout the story and Jessica Matthews has created good and memorable characters. Claire especially tugs at the reader’s heartstrings.

The book is set in a medical practice and the author deals well with medical knowledge. One scene in particular is quite a dramatic one and well thought out.

There is good sexual tension between the couple from early in the story and the romance is warm and tender. Passion becomes hot and sexy.

Claire’s little boy Josh is handled well by the author, as is Jenny, Alex’s daughter. She likes Claire until she notices her getting to close to her Daddy then things go pear-shaped! The other characters in the book are mostly staff at the practice and they are well placed and very believable.

This is definitely a story for the Christmas season and is a good quick read, just right for a Christmas stocking filler!
