Mariel Braedon Whitlow has spent most of her life taking care of others. After the death of her beloved husband, she answers a summons to her ailing grandmother in London. When her grandmother insists that Mariel get on with her life and enjoy the Season, Mariel is reluctant, the social whirl that is London holds little appeal for her.
Mr. Edward Hadley is one of the most popular bachelorís of the ton. Known for his humor and luck at cards, he is considered quite a catch for some marriage minded miss. When a few chance meetings gets him an introduction to Mrs. Mariel Whitlow, Edward has eyes for no other woman. Mariel will be his bride, even if she doesnít know it yet.
The story of Edward and Mariel was a little slow at the beginning, especially because I had not read the prior ĎBraedoní books by Ms. Blayney. If I had, I may have enjoyed this book more. Being that I was not familiar with Marielís past, the author didnít really bring to light some facets of Marielís life and marriage. The same could be said of Edward and his past. Mariel was a little too stiff and proper for me and Edward was a little on the whimpy side.
If you have read the prior stories, you may have a different outlook on this story. I welcome any input that could change my feelings on this book.
