Great Smoky Mountains, North Carolina

Roan O’Hara has withdrawn from the treacherous outside world she escaped to, back to the peace and comfort of her childhood at her Gran’s cabin. With Roan’s solitude comes a price. The folks she ran from, now despise and blame her for the unhappiness her Gran had in the final stage of her life. They think of Roan as nothing more then “Miss Hoity-Toity”, Roan is anything but! A loveless marriage to a much older man, the death of her infant daughter, and her downward spiral into drug addiction has left Roan beaten and seeking solace in the mountains--the only place she knew peace in her miserable life. At the one area general store, the proprietor is just about ignoring her, something Roan has been getting accustomed to since her return, when the most handsome, sexy man she has ever seen comes to her rescue !

Movie star Zane MacAllister has it all. Good looks, money, and fame, have gotten Zane voted People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive. Zane would trade all of that in if it would just bring his former girlfriend Kelly back. Zane was the last person Kelly called before finally killing herself, the only way she could find out from her drug addicted life! Now, trying to run from the media hounds who are having a field day with this, Zane is on his way home to his loving family in Texas. Having to travel in disguise so no one will recognize him, Zane stops along the way at a back woods general store and comes to the rescue of a waif-like woman, whose very persona is screaming for more then just help. It is crying out for love, understanding, and forgiveness. Things Zane himself needs right now. Maybe in this no man’s land Zane and Roan can finally find happiness--with each other!

Jean Brashear continues her “Deep in the Heart of series” with this latest installment, A Real Hero. Zane the movie star with a soul and down but not out Roan, who has struggled all her life to find love, are great characters! A Real Hero gives the reader a story that will lift the spirit as high as the mountains it is written about!
