Lena is separated from her husband of twenty years and their son is living with her. Lena works in an insurance company, working in the fraud department. She enjoys the work and most of her co-workers as well. Lena isnít ready to get back into the dating scene but it seems that someone else has other plans for her.
Bernard also works at the same company as Lena, but he works in the mailroom. He is going to school to get his degree and is twenty years younger than Lena. But he knows what he wants and he wants Lena.
Strained Relations, has some romance in it but it is mostly the life of Lena and the trials and tribulations that she goes through with her family, friends, Bernard and her work. It seems when things are beginning to look good at the end of the tunnel, something else comes along and knocks her for a loop.
I sometimes had a hard time following along with the book. It would jump from one scene to the next with different characters, then go to the next scene without any real breaks to let the reader know a change was about to occur. Some questions were answered and others were left unanswered. I was not drawn into the story because of this and several errors that should have been caught in editing.
If you are looking for a story that deals with real life events that occur everyday and how one woman deals with them, then pick up Strained Relations.
