"Moonlight suited him."

What an opening! Does that simple phrase stir your imagination as it did mine? I find Amanda Quick to be very good at creating such vivid imagination capturing phrases throughout her books and Reckless is no exception. Ms. Quick has a talent for witty dialogue and believable love scenes. She is one of the few authors that can make me laugh out loud with her characters' audaciousness! Some of her books I have read, and re-read again and again - they never lose their fresh appeal! Reckless is one of those books. She combines high ideals and breathless passion in this novel. Her characters are rich in wit and humor; you can truly get to know and love them. How wonderful it is to have such a talent with words!

Now let me introduce you to the cast:

Tarnished Knight-Errant. Our heroine's father drove him out of England at a young age. He had everything taken from him and had to begin anew with only his wits, daring, and strong sense of honor. He claws his way up to power and fortune out in the South Seas, but at a cost. He met many men and ladies out at sea with no code of honor. Such harsh treatment by the world taught our noble hero to look through very different, very practical eyes. Should we say cynical here?? Definitely!

Enter lovely Phoebe…

Our heroine has a problem; she must find a murderer and bring him to justice. She remembers Gabriel from her youth as a young Arthur of Camelot, just the sort of man to help a damsel in distress. So what does our reckless young lady do to entice her knight-errant? She meets him on a lonely country- lane at midnight with the details of her quest and the knowledge of a secret Gabriel doesn't want anyone to know.

Amanda Quick does an excellent job of making the sparks fly with her love scenes and throws in an excellent mystery to turn those sparks to flame.

To share a perfect description of our characters from Reckless, I give you Gabriel's family motto… Audeo, which is Latin for "I dare".

I hope you find the story as witty and enchanting as I did! Let me know what you think!

Happy Reading!
