A poor lowly barmaid overhears a plot to kill the Prince. Having spent her entire life wishing for adventure, she decides that it is her duty to find the Prince and warn him of the dastardly deed. Thus begins Aenna’s greatest adventure. She finds Prince Kurit and his cousin, Jarik, at an outpost. Having run all night and most of the day by foot, without food or rest, Aenna faints after having told of the plot.

Both Prince Kurit and Jarik know immediately that this is a woman of great honor. However, they must protect the Prince at all costs. They set off in opposite directions to return to Endren, the capital city. What ensues is a great love that will be tested over and over again, as well as a great unrequited love.

I find myself wanting to give more information about the book. However, doing so will give away wonderful twists and plots that begin right away. Rest assured that this book is completely full of romance, suspense, intrigue, prejudices that cause insanity, abduction, and most of all, the greatest thing of all, love.

Sorrows of Adoration, is such an aptly named story. The emotions were such that I often found myself overwhelmed by them and having to step away from the story for deep breaths to regain my control. I have never read of a heroine as honorable, intelligent, and proud as Aenna is. She is a paragon, yet written in such a way as to make the reader cheer for her. The story is written in first person as a journal of her life, and boy what a life it is. I was so enthralled with Aenna, Kurit, and Jarik that I truly never wanted the story to end, yet when it did I wiped my tears and smiled for a well written tale that took me away to a time long ago and a place far away. For an emotionally, romantically, and suspensefully wonderful read, I definitely recommend Sorrows of Adoration.
