15th Century, Scotland
The winds of fate blew Sir Balfour Murray and his gravely wounded brother down the road Maldie Kirkcaldie was traveling upon. Generously she offers her services as nurse and healer to the injured men in his party on their journey home. While Maldie attends to her duties she tries very hard to ignore the allure of Balfour. Maldie soon discovers that they share the same mission of vengeance. But Maldie has a dark secret that should it come to light would surely put an end to their fledgling relationship and brand her a spy.
Sir Balfour Murray, Laird of Clan Doncoill, has sworn to avenge his family and destroy his greatest enemy, Beaton of Dubhlinn. He fervently hopes to do so with Maldie at his side yet he is wary of giving her his full trust. For the sake of their love, and to protect his clan, Balfour will have to unearth Maldie’s secrets.
Hannah Howell pens a wonderful historical romance. This first book in her Highland series is a prime example why Ms. Howell’s books are perennial favorites. They are packed with humor, adventure, and thoroughly engaging characters with a lot of steamy passionate love scenes. She is one of my favorites.
