Time travel, vampires and hot love scenes are mixed together with a evil god trying to be good and a sex goddess in the guise of a white cat. You'll find all of these things in Nina Bangs' wonderful new book, Master of Ecstasy .
Blythe has traveled back to Scotland in 1785 to prove to her boss that she can remain uninvolved in her client's life. She works for Ecstasy Inc., which helps the people of Earth rid themselves of depression and stress. In her time, people can live as long as they want and that is causing some problems as there seems to be no retirement from working. She got a little too involved with her last client. Her boss wants her to help make one of her fellow travellers happy.
Unfortunately, the man her boss picks for her to work on is the lord of the castle and a 500-year-old vampire. Darach Mackenzie revels in the pursuit of all things sensual. He tries not to think about emotions and happiness. Living purely in the moment is his motto. Until he runs into Blythe. Then he realizes that he's been existing in an emotional limbo to survive what he does. So he decides to seduce her. Blythe needs to resist his seduction or she'll lose her job.
With a little help from a goddess who is knowledgable in all things pleasurable and sensual, the pair find themselves struggling to trust and enjoy each other. It isn't just a moment in time that's at stake. It's love forever that is up for grabs.
Darach is a wonderfully tortured hero. He gluts himself with pleasure to ignore the wounds incurred by what his purpose in the world is. Blythe just wants to make him happy. In her irritating way, she does, while facing her own demons. The characters manage to invoke deep emotions all the while making the reader laugh at the banter between them. Sparkle Stardust as the white cat is a wonderful secondary character. The atmosphere is dark and gloomy - perfect for a vampire story.
Curl up in your chair. Make sure you have plenty of refreshments around to sustain you because once you start this marvelous story of love and laughter, you won't stop for anything until you read the last page.
