Martin Ducaneís daughter Jennifer has been missing for close to thirty years; since she and her mother fled after Martinís brother was killed under unusual circumstances. When Martin decides to search for her, his good friend Jared Russell offers to screen the candidates for Martin. Jared is a widowed rancher with six children, who needless to say keep him very busy. Jennifer Matley has no idea that she used to be Jennifer Ducane until she sees her fatherís story on T.V. After speaking with Jared, Jennifer agrees to meet with her father and comes to stay with Jared and his children. Soon, the sparks are flying between Jared and Jennifer and it becomes apparent that someone in the Ducane family does not want Jennifer to remember what happened that fateful night. As a series of deadly accidents and events begin to plague Jennifer and the rest of her family, it becomes clear that she and Jared must find the murderer before Jennifer becomes his or her next victim.

Catherine Snodgrassís newest novel Dreams revolves around an unsolved murder and an unseen enemy that plagues Jennifer and Jared the two main characters in the story. These plot elements capture the readerís attention and keep the reader on his or her proverbial toes as the book progresses. The characters help create a deeply moving story about love, loss, and redemption. The horrors that plague Jennifer and the rest of her family establish a sense of empathy that allows the reader to really connect with the story and the characters. Jaredís love for his children and his strong sense of responsibility make him one of those men that women fantasize about. The lighthearted moments provided by the secondary characters give the reader a chance to relax between suspenseful moments and helps the story have three dimensional feel. The plot is exciting and unusual drawing the reader into the story and enveloping them in the mystery and suspense that Snodgrass has masterfully created. The love story between Jared and Jennifer is sweet and believable, it leaves the reader with that warm fuzzy feeling that we as romance readers look forward to experiencing as we read a book. I highly recommend this book to warm up those cold winter nights.
