Would you recognize THE ONE, if you met him? Minerva Dobbs did, but she was convinced that it was all wishful thinking. After all, Calvin Morrisey is a beast. While he may be charming, heís no prince, so she wants to believe. A man, who would make a bet about getting her into bed, has to be no good. Min doesnít believe in the fairy tale. Fate is about to test that belief. When her boyfriend dumps her just 3 weeks before her sisters wedding, she needs another date, and she still has to lose 20 pounds. Maybe the beast might be good for something after all.
Cal is a serial dater. He just hasnít met the woman who can catch and keep his heart, that is until he looks across a crowded bar and sees Min, a beautiful, sexy, round woman with great shoes. Who knew that not taking a bet would be so much fun? The only problem is that she is immune to the Morrisey charm, but then again, maybe that is a good thing. She just might be THE ONE.
With the help of a few friends, some awesome Chicken Marsala and gorgeous shoes, Min and Cal take a chance that the fairy tale is real, prince charming does exist and there really is such a thing as happily ever after.
Jennifer Crusie has once again given us a great story full of humor and insight. After all, how many of us really do believe in happily ever after? Min and Calvin are funny, sexy and real. I loved that Min is not a size 2 and that there really are men out there who appreciate a full-figured woman. With witty, snappy dialogue, great shoes and delicious food, Ms. Crusie has written an awesome book worth reading again and again. This reviewer/reader freely admits to having read it twice already.
