Gemma is a Recreational Intercourse Operative. When an accident in a hover scooter leaves her almost dead, she is fitted with mechanical organs that make her stronger then the average person, but at least she was alive. Her job was to test Pleasurebots, robots manufactured for the sole purpose of giving sexual pleasure. She and her colleagues are responsible for making sure that they are in good working condition and no threat to the population. In Newcity, prostitution is legal and sex is a recreational sport.

When she mistakes Declan for a potentially malfunctioning pleasurebot, she realizes her mistake too late. It is illegal for a RI operative to have sex with a human while on duty. The only problem is that she finds herself really liking Declan.

When they begin to see each other after the incident, she truly believes that maybe she has found someone who can accept her and her implants. What she doesn’t realize is that Declan has secrets of his own. Secrets that could cost both of them, and anyone close to them everything, including their lives.

Declan and Gemma race against time and battle a powerful foe to escape Newcity and start a life together where they won’t be seen as less than human because of who and what they are.

I really liked this story. Ms. Hart has written a story full of passion and suspense. Set in a New York City of the distant future, where prostitution and drugs are legal, sex is a recreational sport and humanity is measured by how many of your organs are real.
