Patricia A Rasey‘s newest novel, Lawfully Yours, tells the story of two lost souls who find each other under very unusual circumstances. Cheryl Donovan better known as Cheri Henderson has fled to Tucson Arizona to escape a past that always seems to find her. She and her small son are attempting to start a new life when the past once again catches up with her. Ryder Storm is one of the fiercest bounty hunters around and his reputation alone makes grown men shiver in fear. He has been hired to discover Cheri’s whereabouts and return her to Rhode Island where she stands accused of murdering her lover. When Ryder finally catches up to Cheri and her son, he discovers that the information he received in Rhode Island may be fraudulent and Cheri herself may be in danger from those who do not want them to discover what really happened to Cheri’s lover.

Lawfully Yours is an entertaining story that unites two very different people under very interesting circumstances. I found that idea of the plot very interesting and caught my interest almost immediately. The main characters are well developed and this helps maintain the reader’s interest in the story line. However, the action is a bit contrived and the secondary characters appear flat and almost uninteresting until the very end of the story. I also felt that story moved too slowly and often caused me to lose interest in the story line. The delightful characters and interesting plot are lost in the blandness of the conversation and the choppiness of the action. This is an interesting book but has a few to many problems to make it an enjoyable read.
