After her parents are killed in an accident, Elizabeth Rosanna Montgomery finds herself forced to take over her family`s holdings. As she tries to personally collect rent over one of the properties, she gets into trouble, yet again, due to her beauty. However, this time she is saved by a handsome stranger that lends her his coat, as her dress was ruined after the incident.

The day after her ordeal, Elizabeth realizes that she still has her savior`s coat and decides to return it, so, after finding out his name, she goes to the piers to seek Benjamin Ascott Elliott. Once Elizabeth finds him, she manages to lose her most precious possession. When she realizes what has happened, she decides that something must be done, as her chances to find a suitable husband are now non-existent . . . and so her adventures begin.

When I saw that “The Pits of Passion” is described as a historical romance satire by the publisher I was not sure as to what to expect. Of course, shortly after the first few pages I was laughing so loud that I had to explain to my husband what it was that had me so amused. Even though this is the first romance satire I have ever read, I strongly believe that Ms. Amber Flame did a wonderful job. This was truly an enjoyable story that I intend to read again. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, this one is certainly for you. Make sure that you read it with an open mind because it simply is outrageous and on the sensual side of the scale.
