Sophia White is a by-blow of a nursemaid and a duke. Therefore, she realizes that she will never be accepted by polite society. To make it worse, she is one of the Tantalus Club girls who dresses sexy to entice their patrons to bet more money. Sophia has happily accepted her fate until her father walks in and tells her she must marry a pastor and leave the club forever under the threat that he will have it shut down. Now she has to be the sacrificial lamb and bow to the wishes of her absent aristocrat father. But before she goes into obscurity, she wants to enjoy the most wonderful holiday of her life. You see Adam Baswich, the Duke of Greaves, has invited her to his house for holiday festivities. He is known for inviting those who cause a stir. Inviting Sophia will not only stir the kettle, it will cause a complete uproar to the holiday.

Adam Baswich, the Duke of Greaves, is running out of time. He must marry by age thirty or he will lose a large portion of his vast wealth. So he decided to allow a parade of marriageable women to converge on his home so that he can choose a wife and be done with it. He invited Sophia White to irritate his sister for entertainment, but instead he discovers a strong, intelligent, warm human being. How can he find himself falling for one of the most unsuitable women at his house? Can they dare to risk it all, family reputation, and polite society to be together?

Rules to Catch a Devilish Duke is an okay read. It builds up slowly and some parts are enjoyable, but you are left looking for more.
