Why do women do phone sex? Well Bobby Hutchinson has come up with possibilities here. Maxine, under the name of India, does phone sex while she feeds and changes her baby. Then she gets a call from Harry and everything starts to change. Harry is a freelance reporter who accepts a commission to do an article on phone sex and finds himself falling for India/Maxine!

Wonderful story, this, written with a lot of humor but with an underlying seriousness. Bobby Hutchinson handles her topic with ease. The reader gets a glimpse into what could be a sordid world but instead we see the very human side of it. Maxine has to make a living, and look after her baby, and phone sex seemed the answer.

While this story is centered around Harry and Maxine, Polly and Bruce feature very strongly as well. Polly is Maxine’s friend and lawyer Bruce is the baby doctor who falls for her. Their path is very rocky too. Then there is the wonderful middle-aged Edna, who also does phone sex!

Sadie is Harold’s delightful toddler and Graham is Maxine’s baby. The author makes these two very real children and the reader will quickly fall in love with them!

The actual romances in the book are hugely passionate and the pages fairly crackle with the electric atmosphere between the couples. But true love has many a detour and it is easy to understand why both Maxine and Polly find it hard to trust men.

The characters stayed with me long after I finished the story. I really did not want to let them go. Bobby Hutchinson packs a lot into this story and keeps the reader fully entertained throughout the book. Well worth a read.
