Linda Warren’s latest Super Romance, The Texan’s Secret, is the beginning of The Hardin Boys series and once again she has a start to what I hope continues to be a very good series. I enjoyed this book and the way all the characters play out, but for this one there are two very important people who have secrets of their own.

Shay Dumont had hopes of being able to just walk up to the door and request what she must have for her mother, Blanche. It’s her last dying wish but after finding herself in the ditch, Shay must get what she needs another way. Her other options was to get into the safe and take Blanche’s wedding rings. At one time she was married to Jack Calhoun, but the ranch is now owned by his sons.

Chance Hardin is the ranch manager of Southern Cross, and he is tempted to go into business with his two brothers - Caddi and Cisco (also called kid). He has been carrying a secret from his brothers for many years about their father, who they thought could do no wrong. The only way he will be able to work with them as a partner in the oil company is to be honest with them. His fear is how it could affect their relationship and if will they believe him.

Shay was not able to steal her mother’s rings, for she was caught with her hand in the safe. She makes a run for it and thinks she is safe when she gets home. Wrong - for Chance shows up and with the help of Shay’s adopted daughter they fall in love.

Will the secret that Shay is hiding from Chance ruin any relationship for these two? Will Caddi and Kid accept what Chance says as the truth?

This is a keeper for me and one that I read in one day. I so enjoyed the humor and some of the attitude of all characters and I know you will to. I am looking forward to the next in the Hardin Boys series, The Texan’s Bride which will be in October.
