Ms. Gedney takes us to Regency England, where it is winter and cold, but the love runs hot.
Elise MacGregor is in a terrible bind. While in London buying clothing for her upcoming marriage, she develops an affection for another man. A man much younger than her betrothed. When Elise writes to her betrothed to break off the engagement, she learns that the young man she has fallen for is in love with her sister! With her ex-betrothed and her father about to arrive at any time, she will have to make up a story that she was spurned by her young man, unless she can convince someone to pose as her new fiancé’, just long enough to convince her father that she is going to be fine.
Walter Belvedere finds the company of his books, livelier than rubbing elbows with the ton’s elite. When he agrees to escort Elise to the Frost Fair, he never expects to find someone more entertaining than his books. But as the Frost Fair draws to a close, can he truly let her go or should he just listen to his heart as ask Elise to be his forever?
This is a truly sweet, charming story. When Elise realizes that she must find a replacement fiancé’, she never expects that Walter would turn out to be the most perfect man for her. The setting of the Frost Fair is different than I have seen before, in regencies. These winter activities are much talked about, but I have never read a story-line surrounding it.
This is a definite keeper for your Zebra Regency Romance collection.
